PROJECT GOALS, ACHIEVEMENTS, AND BENEFITS

McGovern McDonald Engineers (MME) provided construction management field support, reporting directly to the on-site Construction Manager at the $43 million Pinole/Hercules Water Pollution Control Plant Upgrade project in Pinole, CA for the duration of the project. Specifically, MME provided construction inspection and office support. Construction inspection included observation of facility-wide civil and mechanical construction activities and mechanical startup and testing, preparation and transmission of daily inspection reports, preparation of deficiency lists, assistance with RFIs, coordination meetings, and technical submittal review with comments delivered via web-based document management system.

The contract administration duties included processing change order requests, recording design changes to As-Built contract documents, and ensuring that contract documents were an accurate representation of current design, including incorporating historical As-Builts and design changes. An important part of this was tracking all requests for information, contract changes, and directives, and their associated links, status, and applicability to As-Built Drawings. Additional responsibilities included assisting with site inspections, preparing the documentation for construction status meetings, maintaining a submittal log, understanding submittal requirements, and drafting of field directives and change orders.
